The Importance of ISO Standardized Mold Components
The reliability and efficiency of plastic injection molds directly depend on the quality of the components used. Standard elements, known as mold components or "normals", form the foundation of any tooling system, ensuring structural accuracy, long service life, and interchangeability. Plate Sets – The Structural Basis of a Mold
The plate set forms the frame of the mold. It includes clamping plates, forming plates (cavity and core), support plates, ejector plates, and other plates. We offer both standard block sets made from milled or ground plates to ensure high dimensional accuracy and reduce machining operations, as well as custom plates based on customer drawings. For thermally demanding processes, thermal insulation plates are available. All plates are made from high-quality mold steels (e.g., 1.1730, 1.2311, 1.2312, 1.2738, Toolox), providing the necessary strength and wear resistance, with or without additional heat treatment.
Guiding Elements for Accurate Mold Alignment
To ensure precise alignment of mold halves during operation, guiding elements are used. These include guide pillars and bushings that work in pairs to provide smooth and accurate movement. For complex and high-precision molds, we offer precision-grade guiding components.
Ejection Systems for Finished Parts
Removing the finished part from the mold is handled by the ejection system. It consists of an ejector plate set that transfers motion to ejector pins — cylindrical or flat, round, nitrided or hardened — which directly contact the molded part. The system’s reliability is supported by matching support elements.
Springs for Motion and Return
In molds, springs create the required forces and return moving components to their initial position. We offer standardized tool springs with various stiffness grades, as well as high-performance gas (nitrogen) springs from leading manufacturers like Bordignon (Italy) and Tecapres (Spain), which deliver high forces in compact formats. Polyurethane springs are also available for specific operating conditions.
Thermal Control System Components
Maintaining the mold’s optimal temperature is critical for high-quality molding. This is achieved through cooling/heating system components such as hose nipples, couplings, and quick-release fittings (BRS, mold cupla) that allow fast and leak-proof connections. Sealing rings ensure leak-tightness. These parts are often made from stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
Other Essential Mold Components (Normals)
Our product range also includes a wide variety of other standardized components: centering rings, side locks for precise half-mold alignment, date stamps and marking inserts, various fastening elements (screws, studs, nuts, clamps, and RUD eye bolts for lifting).
