Already for the 7th time Franco-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFU) is organizing award competition "Created by Women". The organization team talked to Dr. Olga Melykh, PhD in Economics, Director of the Research and Production Company KVOTA, Laureate of the "Created by Women" award 2024 in the nomination "Iron Woman" about her experience of participating in the competition.
- Please, share your experience of participating in the award competition. What has it gave to you, what should future contestants pay attention to when applying?
Participation in the "Created by Women" award was not only an opportunity to tell about me and my business, but also an important stage in professional and personal development. This is a great opportunity to inform about your achievements, receive recognition and inspiration for further development.
A special result for us was that my company KVOTA became a member of the Franco-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFU). This opened up new opportunities for international cooperation, the implementation of ambitious projects, long-term partnership and the further development of my business.
The main thing that I advise future participants to pay attention to when applying is the clarity and meaningfulness of the information provided. It is important to talk not only about successes, but also about the challenges overcome and the impact your business has. Being sincere, showing your story and uniqueness - that's what is really important.
- Why do you think it is necessary to support women in business?
Women in business are the driving force of change. They bring innovation, create jobs, implement projects that change society. But, unfortunately, even today they often face challenges: from stereotypes to difficulties in attracting investment.
In the times of war, these challenges have become even more acute: economic instability, relocation of enterprises, problems with logistics, difficulties with human resources etc. Nevertheless, women demonstrate extraordinary strength, flexibility and endurance. They not only maintain their businesses, but also expand them, create new opportunities and adapt to change.
Supporting women in business is not only about equality, but also about restoration and strengthening the economy, social responsibility and the creation of strong, competitive companies. It is women's entrepreneurship that is now an important element of the economic front of Ukraine, and every successful business headed by a woman contributes to the future of the country.
- How have other women supported you along the way?
I work in the field of metalworking with complex engineering solutions. This is a high-tech and specific area, in which every step requires not only deep knowledge, but also effective interaction with colleagues and other specialists. On my professional career, I have repeatedly met women who shared their experience, inspired and supported difficult moments.
Communication, mutual support and exchange of experience in a team give an incredible boost of energy and motivation. These were my colleagues, always ready to support, as well as family and friends who understand all the difficulties of business. Their support is invaluable, and it was thanks to it that I was able to overcome many barriers.
